We’re a family owned studio that focuses solely on dance. Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Pointe, Hiphop...No tumbling, singing or acting. We are the alternative to the larger dance factories. We know it’s a business, and that it keeps food on our table, but profits are never given priority over the overall dance experience for our kids and their families. Someday they will be treated like a number, it doesn’t have to start at dance class.

Danceworks began in 1980 in a church hall and has grown to 175 students by providing expert technical instruction and personal attention at prices lower than what you’d pay for getting less elsewhere.

You’ll only see owner Sandy and daughter Jill with a small select group of top alumnae...we know every child as a student...and as a kid too.

All students receive training in tap and ballet during each class then at age 6 a jazz segment is added. That’s 3 distinct disciplines in every class, which builds strong well-rounded dancers, takes advantage of attention spans, and gives parents more value for their tuition. More importantly, we try to move up entire classes of girls (as space allows) so camaraderie, teamwork and lifelong friendships are built...it just feels more like a family than a factory.

We promise you will not see a collection of awkward transitions, dancers looking offstage for cues, and teachers waving from the wings through the notoriously painful, drawn-out experience that has come to be accepted as routine at so many other dance studios. We pride ourselves on changing people's attitudes about attending dance recitals. You'll see happy, confident kids, who know their dances, and can’t wait to show you. With only 2 curtain closes, our fast paced performances conclude in under two and a half hours and will have your guests looking forward to next years recital rather than looking for the exit.

Prove it you say?...Check out our website and click on the video tab for clips from our last recital...We want you to compare your recitals to ours.

We are located at: 132 Washington Street (rear), Quincy, MA 02169

Some Customer Testimonials…

It’s impossible to believe I’m the mom of a graduate and that our last recital is now a beautiful and amazing memory. Thank you for 10 incredible years of dance education, wrapped up in kindness, caring, compassion, and love for the girls you work with and their families. Sydney has had the best possible experience and while she was never destined to be front row center, she was always made to feel gifted, talented, valued and important to the success of the group. The lessons learned in your studio carry over to life off the stage. The gifts of grace, confidence, poise, and self-awareness are theirs to keep even after the lights go down and the curtain closes. You give them gifts and show them how to find those talents in themselves and they are forever changed because of it. Syd’s chorus group performed Because I Knew You from Wicked in honor of their director, and the song is equally as appropriate for you, Jill, Alicia, Jackie, all the beautiful girls of Company A and B, and all your students. “People come into our lives for a reason, bringing something we must learn; and we are lead to those who help us most to grow if we let them.”

Thanks for everything and best wishes for continued success!

M. Smith

I want to thank you again for teaching the girls to dance they way they do. At the end of the day, they are class acts. Danceworks can hold their chin high and own every step they make. They looked beautiful, poised and confident on stage. That is what makes a good dancer.

After yesterday’s competition, I just wanted to take the time and THANK YOU for the time you put into teaching these girls!! Your routines, and the girls, always look cute and classy! Some of those routines yesterday…well I could go on and on….But honestly you do a great job, and I love that Madeline has you for a teacher for something that she loves to do

This was my first year experience with your Dance School and I have to tell you it was AWESOME!!! How I learned about your dance school was, last May I attended the recital to see a couple of my girlfriend’s children perform. I was so impressed that I immediately signed my 4 year old granddaughter up for the 2011/2012 season. Every Saturday she was eager to go to “dance school”. She loved meeting the other girls in her class and learning all the steps Peggy and her assistants (Megan/Jamie) taught her. To keep a 4 year old’s interest for a year is pretty hard to do! Not only did we have fun every Saturday but I appreciated the organization, communication, value and genuine caring that you and the rest of your staff provided. So, not only did I re-sign her up but I also signed up my 2 year old granddaughter up for the 2012/2013 season.

This years recital was even better than last year, for me anyway, since I was able to see my granddaughter perform; she had the night of her life. All our family and friends who attended the show were just as impressed as I was the year before. Your productions are the BOMB!!! Thank you for a great season. Have a fantastic summer. Can’t wait for September for it to start all over again.

Just wanted to say “thank you” to you, and the young ladies who assisted both of you this year for a great year of dance lessons and performances! My girls really enjoyed dancing all year and had a blast at the recital. Our family and friends who attended the show were very impressed again with ALL of the performances. Thanks again for all of your hard work and dedication to our girls! We’ll see you in September,
