MUSICAL THEATRE MADNESS!
The latest and greatest addition to Mel O’ Drama has been a 12-week program that meets 2-3 times per week and performs a Musical Theatre Jr. show with full set and costumes! ‘It’s a remarkable experience for the kids who learn so much about the teamwork it takes to put a musical together and to be in amongst a room of young singing actors smiling from ear to ear moved to the core by the musical experience and it has become one of my favorite classes in Mel O’ Drama,’ Mel gleams. With a tight team of professionals ready to direct, choreograph, costume and stage manage the show, we are super excited to announce that our next production will begin rehearsals in March for a June production of, ‘DISNEY’S THE LITTLE MERMAID JR!’
This past August, Mel had her first children’s book published by Mascot Books! ‘Darlene the Drama Queen takes readers on a magically colorful journey through Dramaland where they meet Darlene and her friends, Shakespeare, Comedy and Tragedy who help a little shy girl named Lucy feel more confident using a few simple theatrical tricks! A great gift for every child delivering the message that confidence is something we can all access with a little self-work!
Debuting on Oct 31st 2016, Mel’s tv show for kids hit the screens of Milton children on Milton access tv (channel 11) in a show she wrote and produced called, ‘Actin’ up with Mel & Gigi Giraffe!’ The show is available online to anyone who is not a Milton resident. We meet Mel and her funny friend, Gigi Giraffe in each episode and they take us on a journey each week meeting local guests (like Irish dancer James Gillespie, sign language teacher Robyn Fatseas and local kids cooking teacher, Debbie Alsebai) and both Mel and Gigi teach the viewers some words in a new language each episode, sing funny songs and meet great kids! Children are encouraged to send emails which are read out on tv to the viewers delight each week! To tune in, visit miltonaccesstv.org and click on demand!
