'GIVING VOICE' EVENT FOR BCT CELEBRATES ARTS PROGRAMS

Live performances April 14th event to celebrate and support Boston Children's Theatre programs

March 23, 2015
Performances by current and former Boston Children's Theatre (BCT) students will light up the room when BCT presents Giving Voice: A Front Row Fundraiser on Tuesday, April 14, 2015at WGBH Studios. To celebrate and support BCT programs and productions that enrich students' lives, Giving Voice is an annual event to raise awareness and understanding of the crucial role the arts play in the lives of children.

For over 60 years, Boston Children's Theatre has served as one of the region's premier not-for-profit theaters. Named Best of Boston® 2013 and 2012 by Boston Magazine for Best Children's Theatre, BCT's mission is to provide access to exceptional theatrical experiences dedicated to fostering the artistic and personal development of diverse youth, with a focus on professional training and the development of new works. BCT produces contemporary, classic and World Premiere plays and musicals year round. With workshops for students ages 4 - 19 and a pre-professional training program, BCT fosters the artistic and personal development of diverse youth in our community.

"This is a night to celebrate and support the arts in a unique way- through the eyes of young people," revealed BCT Executive Artistic Director Burgess Clark. "Everything we do is targeted toward introducing children to the magic and wonder of theater and then we help to foster and grow that interest throughout their lives. Whether students are drawn to performing, working backstage, participating in a workshop, or becoming a passionate audience member, BCT is often their first exposure to live theater. It is a tremendous honor for all of us at BCT to play such an important role in the lives of so many students. Seeing the support and enthusiasm of the attendees at our Giving Voice event is the ultimate validation of the work that we do every day."

In addition to entertainment by current BCT students and accomplished alumni, the evening also features the culinary delights of many of the city's top restaurants, including The Fairstead Kitchen, Deuxave, Picco, Bernards, Bistro du Midi, Grill 23 and The Fireplace. The event will also feature a silent auction and honorary awards. Giving Voice- A Front Row Fundraiser will be held April 14, 2015 at 6:00 pm at WGBH Studios, 1 Guest Street, Boston, MA.
