The Forbes School of Irish Dance, located in Quincy, has been instilling confidence, building friendships and carrying on the appreciation for traditional Irish dance to their students for thirty years.
“Every dancer of every level is loved and nurtured by every single teacher at Forbes. After 13 years, three dancers and another one starting, all I can say is ‘Forbes is Family’,” said Kim McDonell, dance mother from Quincy.
Many of the Forbes dancers compete in local, regional, national and international competitions, such as the New England Oireachtas, North American Championships and World Championships.
New England Regional U8 Traditional Set Champion, Nora O’Connell said, “My favorite part about dance class is all the friends I have made and dancing on the big stages at the New England’s Championships and the Nationals. It was so much fun!”
The Forbes School is also the official dancers of the Dropkick Murphy’s, a Boston Irish rock band, and the Boston Red Sox. During the week of St. Patrick’s Day, the dancers perform with the band in sold out shows in Boston. They have accompanied DKM at Fenway Park upon request of the Red Sox players, the POPs Fourth of July performance and an Aero Smith concert.
The Forbes School is run by a family who has an undying love for the sport and art form of Irish dance. “The community of Forbes Irish Dancing School is second to none. The teachers, dancers and parents truly care about one another and support each other in whatever way possible. That is one of the main reasons we love the school so much,” said Nancy Bucey, dance mother from Hingham.
