Celebrate Earth Day at the Institute

Free admission for all ages on Friday, April 21

What environmental issue would you address as a Senator? Visit the Institute to develop new environmental policy solutions, learn about people who made a difference in the environment, and participate in arts and crafts activities to celebrate Earth Day at the Institute. 


The following special programs will be offered on a drop-in basis on Friday, April 21 for children ages 5 and up. Admission will be free for all ages, all day on Friday, April 21.

Arts and crafts with recycled materials: Drop in between 10 a.m. - 4 p.m.
Bring a clean, empty, recyclable plastic bottle and repurpose it into something new and fun. 

Boston International Newcomers Academy Painting Workshop: Drop in between 1 p.m. - 3 p.m.
Participate in a mural painting workshop with guest artist James Hobin and his students from the Boston International Newcomers Academy. This open-ended activity will invite visitors to create a section of a mural or an individual piece. 

Upcycled Ideas: Offered at 10:30 a.m., 12:30 p.m., and 2:30 p.m.
Take on the role of a Senator and identify an environmental issue to solve, or decide on new policy solutions with fellow Senators, at this improvisational Senate debate featuring audience-suggested topics tackling environmental issues. 

Today’s Vote: Offered at 12:00 p.m., 2:00p.m., 3:00p.m., and 4:00 p.m.
Debate a bill on whether or not to support research and innovation for new nuclear technologies.

Great Senate Debates: Offered at 11:30 a.m., 1:30 p.m., and 3:30 p.m.
This program brings to life the deliberations of the censure of Senator Joseph McCarthy.
