Macaroni Kid Dorchester visits LegoLand Boston

By Kaleigh Fortune, Local Macaroni Kid Dorchester Mom June 27, 2017

Today we were guests of Legoland Discovery Center in Somerville, Massachusetts. I was accompanied by my husband and our three children ages 11, 6 & 3.

Let me first start out by saying how fantastic it is that Legoland provides a FREE parking garage! How great is that! Once you've entered the building and paid for your admission you're then led to a room where you and your party pose for a photo, which you can later purchase and even change the background (packages start at $18). You then ride the elevator up to the second floor to start your adventure.

You and your party will be able to virtually create a Lego person, learn about how Lego bricks and pieces are made and take a virtual tour of the Lego factory. There are SO. MANY. LEGOS. You'll then be brought to your first ride where you and your party will work together to defeat trolls and skeletons on a slow paced ride along game called Kingdom Quest (make sure to smile, they snap a picture towards the end!) once the ride is complete, it's free play!!!

There's plenty to explore, including a Lego Miniland of Boston-complete with Fenway Park-it was pretty impressive! There is a small slide for little ones who need assistance from their guardians, and a larger climbing structure for the kids who can get through on their own. We actually had our girls in sandals today but were relieved to find that socks were sold at the cafe for only $1! Such a life saver, seeing as you can't enter the climbing structure without socks on-saved us a meltdown! The cafe, like most cafes at museums, was a little high priced-we brought bagged lunches, which proved to be a wise decision for us, seeing as my girls are so picky and barely eat anyways!!!

There's fun for all ages here; a Lego friends section (complete with karaoke), a master building section, race car building, a Duplo farm, a ninjago area (this was my husband's favorite)-they even have a ninja training course where you can practice your skills, including a laser beam obstacle course! It's hard to choose a favorite exhibit since it was honestly all so amazing and impressive...but if I had to choose it would be a tie between the Merlin's apprentice ride-which lifts you soaring into the air-OR the Lego 4D cinema, where my 11 year old got soaked by the firetruck!

The facility is very clean, has very friendly staff, informative and interactive exhibits-we had a blast. All in all, it was a fantastic day trip and I would highly recommend it!

LEGOLAND® Discovery Center Boston, 598 Assembly Row, Somerville is open Monday through Friday from 10am to 9pm, Saturday from 9am to 9pm and Sunday from 10am to 7pm

Note: Our family was given passes to explore Legoland. All thought and opinion are my own.
