Jack O’ Lantern Journey at Franklin Park Zoo

Stroll amongst 5,000 hand-carved, illuminated jack o’ lanterns

By Zoo New England September 27, 2018

This fall, immerse yourself in a seasonal experience unlike any other in Boston when Jack O’ Lantern Journey opens at Franklin Park Zoo on October 5, 2018. Taking place after the Zoo closes at night, this one-of-a-kind, family-friendly and immersive Halloween experience will delight and dazzle visitors of all ages as they stroll along a half-mile, tree-lined trail filled with more than 5,000 hand-carved, illuminated pumpkins.

💕 My little MK family and I will be hosted by Zoo New England and we cannot wait to share our experience with you guys! We visit the Franklin Park Zoo many times throughout the year (it's around the corner from us) but have never seen anything like this! CAN. NOT. WAIT.

Along Jack O’ Lantern Journey, guests will discover a wide range of fanciful and creative scenes guaranteed to bring the magic and wonder of Halloween to life. Return to the age of dinosaurs at Prehistoric Park, featuring jack o’ lantern dinosaurs standing up to 16-feet tall. Head below water with the Under the Sea display featuring an 8-foot high Megalodon shark and his ocean of prey. Little princes and princesses will love the Princess Castle filled with beloved characters and an imaginative pumpkin Carnival. Offering “spooktacular” fun, the Pumpkin Graveyard will feature black cats, bats, ghosts and more creatures lurking behind creatively designed gravestones.

Lastly, in recognition of the Zoo’s mission and conservation, beautiful pumpkin displays of endangered species will remind guests of our shared responsibility in ensuring the planet remains healthy and thriving for generations to come. After exploring the Jack O’ Lantern trail, guests are invited to watch live pumpkin carving demonstrations, enjoy seasonal food and beverages, partake in photo opportunities with larger-than-life jack o’ lanterns and more. The eyes and senses are in for an interactive experience that won't soon be forgotten.
