LGBTQ Pride Month

LGBTQ Pride events are held nationwide this month to mark Pride Month, held each June as a way to mark the anniversary of the Stonewall Rebellion in New York City. But June also marks other important events in U.S. history: It's the month when same-sex marriage was legalized in 2015 and when the Pulse nightclub shooting occurred in Orlando in 2016. June 1- 30

Celebrate National Ocean Month by learning more about our amazing bodies of waters — from the Atlantic to the Pacific and the Great Lakes in between! But there's nothing like actually going to an ocean, lake, or creek to really appreciate them ... so get out there and explore! June 1- 30

Flag Day

June 14th is Flag Day in the U.S., but what does that mean? According to the Veterans Administration, both President Wilson (1916) and President Coolidge (1927) issued proclamations calling for a nationwide observation of Flag Day on this particular day, but it wasn't until August 1949 that Congress approved the request and was signed by President Truman.
